At the tender age of five, I was presented with a book that featured simple sentences, such as “The cat said meow.” It was underwhelming, to say the least. When my teacher noticed my lack of enthusiasm, I mustered the courage to express my longing for the classics—books like *Black Beauty* and *Huckleberry Finn*, which I had already devoured. This revelation sparked a shift in my journey; my teacher encouraged me to read these complex texts aloud, and from that moment, I abandoned baby books for good.

P.R. Moffitt, affectionately known as Trish by her family, is a writer and publisher from Yorkshire, currently residing in Staffordshire.
