My earliest memories are steeped in the world of reading. At the tender age of five, I was presented with a book that featured simple sentences, such as “The cat said meow.” It was underwhelming, to say the least. When my teacher noticed my lack of enthusiasm, I mustered the courage to express my longing for the classics—books like *Black Beauty* and *Huckleberry Finn*, which I had already devoured. This revelation sparked a shift in my journey; my teacher encouraged me to read these complex texts aloud, and from that moment, I abandoned baby books for good.
At fifteen, I made the bold decision to leave school, and by sixteen, I found myself writing poetry for greeting cards—a humble start, yet one that ignited a passion within me. As the years passed, I returned to writing more seriously, discovering that my stories resonated with readers.
My writing journey took a pivotal turn when I enrolled in a short writing course at Oxford University. This experience, combined with my role as a volunteer content editor at Newport City Radio, has enriched my understanding of storytelling and the art of engaging an audience. Through these experiences, I have learned that every word holds the potential to inspire, connect, and transform.
